Career and Counselling Cell of KMM Govt. Women’s College addresses the diverse socio-economic challenges and geographic backgrounds of students coming to the college. It utilizes the availability of relevant and accessible information to get better career achievements outside the classrooms and helps in the healthy progression of students and makes them to perform better.
The conventional information system is now supplemented with active guidance and information technology through the support of Career and Counselling Cell, and it helps the students to gather information on job avenues and placements in different institutions and concerns related to the courses that our college offers and with appropriate guidance to establish linkage with the world of work. Apart from that, the Cell supports the students in the development of soft skills and communication ability to challenge the rigors of competitive tests.
Seminars and workshops are conducted for informing students about the emerging professional trends and events, job profiles, leadership roles, entrepreneurship, and market needs. A Job Fair was conducted in September 2011 in the college in collaboration with Dev Associates, a leading recruiting agency in North Malabar. In October 2012 a one day workshop on Civil Services examination was organized in collaboration with Prof. KTK Foundation, a trust with activities that inspiring students to enhance their competitiveness. Steps have been taken to subscribe a number of employment periodicals covering details of job opportunities from domestic as well as overseas employers like Mathrubhumi Thozhil Vartha, Malayala Manorama Thozhil Veedhi, PSC Bulletin and Info Kairali for job seekers in government, public and private sectors.
In July 2012 a four day training programme in soft skill was conducted by the Cell to enhance the competitiveness of students. Apart from that Career and Counselling Cell subscribes a number of employment periodicals covering details of job opportunities from domestic as well as overseas employers like Thozhil Vartha, Thozhil Veedhi and Info Kairali for job seekers in government, public and private sectors.
In April 2013 a Job Fair was conducted in the college in collaboration with ‘cognizant’ a multinational information technology, consulting and business process outsourcing company.
The Guidance and Counselling Cell is a resource centre of information, guidance and counseling with free accessibility and internet based global connectivity and exchange of information on professional placements.
